National CME on Consultation Liaison Psychiatry: AIIMS, New Delhi – 9th April, 2018

The Department of Psychiatry and National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi in association with IASP organized a one-day CME on Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry on 9th April 2018. The CME aimed to update the knowledge and enhance the competence of mental health professionals especially young psychiatrists in understanding and managing co-occurring psychiatric and medical disorders.

The CME focused on nuances and principles of CL Psychiatry and on specific topics like management of agitated patient in emergency setting, dealing with depression and suicide occurring in chronic and acute medical conditions such as cancer and TB and management of medically unexplained symptoms. Special liaison topics were discussed by Faculty from the Department of Neurology, Surgery, Cardiology, Endocrinology, Emergency Medicine, Medicine and Gastroenterology. The CME was attended by more than 150 residents and scholars from institutes all over North India and was appreciated for its focus and depth of content.
